With over 30 years of relevant job experience, I`m now both a pioneer and a leading edge visionary in analytics. Having been a key player in the growth of analytics at both Cognos and OLAP at Business Objects, I have a unique set of skills that let me have a perspective and knowledge of how business intelligence (BI) works.As founder/CTO of Nextanalytics since 2003, my goal is to make our analytic engine the core value of any analytic application and make it ubiquitous. The goal was create analytic middleware, which is the valuable processing that occurs between the raw data in a database and what the user sees when they look at charts and crosstabs. Having had so much experience in BI, I knew this was where the core value proposition for any reporting or analysis venture sits and created something thats unique and powerful.

    Co-founded and grew OLAP@Work from 2 to 45 people in about a year and a half. Oversaw several rounds of financing, company relocations, and spent a great deal of time travelling to public relations events and visiting clients. In early days, developed a significant portion of the software. The company was acquired by Business Objects for $22 million (CDN) days before the .COM crash. OLAP@Work was a solid company with solid product which returned an incredible ROI.

    When I started at Cognos, I had ten years of development experience. I was assigned to PowerPlay, an obscure product (at the time) where there were efffectively only two developers and one customer. Maintaining an aggressive R&D pace and paying attention to customer needs, I developed code and managed a team that grew to 45 people and created a product which eventually reached hundreds of millions dollars in revenue (if not a billion). By 1997, it was time for it to go mainstream and I was no longer a good fit, so I moved on back to my core interest as being an innovator and entrepreneur. I took some time off and then co-founded OLAP@Work.
