I am excited to be representing Canadian company Arkaean Core Energy Inc. to drive the deployment of this clean green energy into NZ, Australia, the Pacific Islands and Asia. It fits in nicely with my overall drive and 2 other Managing Director roles, that of Vivid Solutions 3.0 Limited, driving remote medical solutions into regional locations and Star Networks Limited where we deliver innovative remote IT network solutions into regional and rural locations.

Vivid has grown well and I wanted to turn my attention to the network platform and to help the sales team out.

Having purchased the networking arm of Vivid Solutions and created Vivid Networks, I took on the role of Managing Director to take it through the next phase of development.

NZTPS was no more and Vivid Solutions was now the company going forward. Part of the new plan was to move off a managed network solution and build the Vivid Network so that the company could offer more than just video conferencing over the network links it had into its customers.

I was self employed during this time. I did a number of contract roles completing IT and business strategy engagements. I also fulfilled the CIO roll on contract at Atlantis Healthcare and it was in this time I was engaged by NZTPS (New Zealand Telepaediatric Service) to work on their commercialisation strategy.

I held 4 rolls in this time, firstly looking after the northern regional portfolio of health related customer including all the DHB's. Then I moved into the new business team and went to Wellington to setup the division there. Finally returning to Auckland to work on new initiatives in acquisition and retention of major clients.

I started this company after leaving Clear Communications. We specialised in ICT project management and strategy. At it's height, this company employed 10 staff. In this time I also bought, restructured/amalgamated and sold a number of ICT companies. Cornerstone customers were Air NZ, ASB Bank, NZI, BlueStar Group and NZ Post

This was undoubtedly the highlight of my career. I held a number of technical, customer service, and sales roles in my time at Clear. I learnt a lot and made some life long friends while in this role.

Deregulation was moving at pace, as was IP technology. Dave identified that token ring and IBM type 1 cabling was dead and structured cabling which used patch fields and could carry any traffic up to 10Mbps was the way of the future and what's more, he was getting traction, lots of traction. Deregulation had begun and PBX was one of the first choices businesses had to move away from Telecom and Philips along with Ericsson were at the forefront of taking on Telecom with their Nortel and Mitel offerings. These were exciting and heady days. The customers now had choices and they were making the most of this new found freedom.

Featherston, Lower Hutt, And Wellington

I started my work career as a linesman at the Featherston Line depot. It was a great job for a kid from the country, straight from school. I have been ambitious from the outset though and so moved to Lower Hutt in 1987 and from being a linesman to sales in 1988. Early in 1989 I felt I didn't know enough technically though and returned to get further training as a certified telephone technician and I held that role till I left.
