About Warren Li

I provide technical assistance and develop open licensed technology solutions for improving educational research and outcomes. My previous research work explored the interaction between how people use machine learning and AI systems to make decisions and how that affects both computer models and the way learners think about their cognition.I have played the role of a developer, teacher, researcher, and student and understand the needs of these different stakeholders. My experience is not strictly limited to research environments: I collaborated with a psychometrician on analysis techniques for state-level technology-enabled tests and have worked with universities to develop course content and record video lectures for the launch of online degree programs.

    We partner with philanthropic organizations, VC Firms, and Educational Technology providers on projects that seek to improve the lives of students typically underserved by education systems.I help evaluate the data quality, analytics, and features of emerging educational technology products. I build, develop, and document software tools that can be used for data sharing, analysis, visualization, and insights that incorporate prior learning analytics research results in alignment with open science principles. As part of this work, I conduct data analysis and co-author reports, papers, and policy briefs.

    I explore the interaction between how people use machine learning and AI systems to make decisions, and how that affects both computer models and educational outcomes. We have built predictive models and analyzed effects on such systems when students choose to opt-out of sharing their data; we also seek to better understand learners' privacy perceptions surrounding these decisions. I design experiments to understand how AI-generated explanations influences metacognitive judgements (a process where people think about their thinking to form opinions about their own knowledge).
