"I wanna go fast!" and "If you ain't first, you're last!" Although it is a comedy, those words from Talladega Nights have inspired me and are part of my daily mantra. And as counterintuitive as it may seem, so are "Slow and steady wins the race". I have been a fan of fast cars and motorcycles since I was a young child, my heroes being Chuck Yeager, Mario Andretti, Evel Knievel, Shirley Muldowney, Enzo Ferrari, and Ferruccio Lamborghini. , Aside from drag racing, almost anyone can go fast in a straight line- you have to know how to slow down when life throws you a curve. Although I keep my real estate license active, and still dabble in commercial real estate, my true passion is the business I created, Races2U. In 2010, I took my passion for speed and turned it into a way for anyone to become a race car driver, if only for a few minutes. Many of the lessons of racing can be applied to business and life in general. I started Races2U to bring the fun and excitement of racing to businesses and individuals, adults and children, at first just in the Austin area, and now all over the country, and through the internet, all over the world. What started as a concession trailer with a slot car track quickly grew as word of mouth spread, and after only 8 months in business we had so many requests for appearances at festivals and parties that we added another trailer. Two years after that, we added a brick-and-mortar store, and 3 years later we outgrew that and moved into a larger location. COVID was rough for us, and the retail store has closed. We have returned to our mobile roots. We have gone from serving local families and small community events to having built custom tracks for Fortune 500 companies and racing with celebrities from Formula1, NASCAR, and more. Some of our clients include AT&T, Cisco, Dell, ExxonMobil, and dozens of other household names. We have set up slot car tracks and simulators at some of the finest hotels and convention centers in Las Vegas, Orlando, San Diego, Washington DC, New York City, and many more.
