Have you ever looked back on your life and had an "aha" moment, realizing how an event or a person influenced the direction of your life? Two such incidents occurred for me, both relevant to my chosen profession.Growing up in a family where money was tight and not discussed, I remember the unspoken tension in our home around finances. Watching two sets of grandparents who did not retire financially well also made a lasting impression.Fast-forward to 1996. After ten years of service in the Marine Corps, I entered the financial services industry. As an entrepreneur, I quickly realized the many demands on a business owner's time. It was this second "aha" that focused my efforts on partnering with other business owners as their company's retirement plan advisor. As such, I get to "give back" some of an owner's time and share with employees how a small decision today can make a big difference in their future.
