I am a legal professional with several years of professional & research experience. Currently, I am working as Legal Counsel, Executive Director’s Office at BRAC International. In my capacity as Legal Counsel, I undertake the review and drafting of all legal documentation, conduct legal research into the laws applicable to each of the BI countries as well as AML/CFT frameworks/corporate governance policies/ labour and employment law/contract law, & provide legal support across several units and departments.Previously, I worked as Assistant Manager of the Legal & Regulatory Department of Green Delta Insurance Company (GDIC) where my key areas of focus were corporate law and labour law matters. In addition, was also tasked with ensuring regulatory compliance of GDIC by working closely with IDRA & BSEC. Prior to joining GDIC, I worked for 1.5 years at a reputed law firm named Attorneys where I focused extensively on corporate & labour law matters. During my tenure there, I have also partaken in the drafting of the Overseas Employment & Migrants Act as well as the recent Amendment of the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006. I have completed my internship at Bangladesh Legal Aid & Services Trust (BLAST) where I worked directly under the supervision of the Honorary Executive Director under the A2J (Access to Justice) Project. During my stint there, I was involved in several landmark cases such as the Johny Murder Case (first judgement under Torture and Custodial Death {Prevention} Act, 2013) as well as the Section 54 case. In addition to my aforementioned professional experience, I am an ardent human rights advocate who has co-founded the non-profit organization Bangladesh Forum for Legal & Humanitarian Affairs (BFLHA). I am also an avid researcher and writer with numerous academic & non-academic publications in the field of law, human rights, politics, and social justice.
