Eric leads a small team tasked with designing and delivering the shiny, new REDI Spread Trader, a highly customizable equity spread trading algorithm with various strategies meant to achieve a desired spread over a period of time. Eric’s involvement includes everything from algo and product design to system architecture and development.In development of Spread Trader, Eric’s team also wrote a new platform intended to support the needs of a highly scalable broker and client facing EMS. Utilizing a microservice-based architecture, the platform is capable of very competitive latency and throughput while hiding the details from developers writing business-centric software. Important accomplishments for this new platform include a guaranteed-delivery, multicast stream, auto-discovery, realtime status reporting, and full replayability. Technologies include Java, Google Guice, Sybase, Python, Gradle, and Chef.Prior to Spread Trader, Eric worked on REDI’s Position Server, which offers clients a live view of their positions within REDI and elsewhere. Being a highly event-driven system, the Position Server is written in C++11 utilizing the standard core language as well as various features out of the Boost libraries. Eric led REDI in an effort to move off of a non-recursive Make build strategy to using a custom built Gradle plugin for native binaries.

Eric worked in the NAM Global Credit Department, Institutional Clients Group Technology Division, Credit Technology team. His role included front office trading desk-tools, credit derivatives and correlation, derivatives trading risk reporting, and CVA/DVA pricing and risk. He was also involved with CCAR valuation and reporting.Eric was a lead developer on the Correlation desk, front office Calibration Tool used to calibrate and price credit index tranches as well as run monthly Markit calibrations for financial controllers. Technologies included C#, .Net CAB Framework, Java, Spring, JAXB, Sybase, Gemfire, and Clojure.He also worked very closely with the managing director, desk lead, and quants to develop a highly-critical Credit CVA/DVA pricing and risk infrastructure, the purpose of which was to accomplish tasks varying from daily pricing and risk calculations to P&L Explain and CCAR reporting. This infrastructure was created and maintained with the functional programming paradigm in mind, mainly in Clojure, and utilized Hadoop, Hive, Impala, as well as some proprietary Citi technologies.

Following completion of Morgan Stanley's Technology Analyst Program, Eric was awarded the position of Technology Associate in the Corporate and Banking Technology Division.Eric's main role was with the Retail Bank Portfolio Technology Team in Retail Banking Risk IT. This included banking product risk analysis and infrastructure, fixed-income securities AFS portfolio accounting/management, and lending-data feed parsing and systems integration.

Upon graduation from Lehigh University, Eric Wasserman was hired by Morgan Stanley in Technology and Data as a Technology Analyst.The Technology Analyst Program consisted of 4 condensed months of intense technical and business training alongside the diverse, global new-hire class, based in the New York office. All IT Analysts participated in a core curriculum, which included technology and data training, Morgan Stanley centric firm orientation, an overview of the securities industry, senior management presentations and team-based professional skills workshops.The training concluded with a month of real-world projects supplied by the business. Trainees learned how to manage a team based project and client expectations, along with a flurry of additional technologies.
