Writer -- Short Poetry And Compressed Prose
CurrentAs a dedicated creative writer for more than two decades, I've carved out a small but vibrant space for myself primarily in the areas of Japanese-influenced micropoetry, photo poetry, video poetry, ekphrastic poetry, found verse, and compressed prose.I write most days, and at last count my work has appeared 968 times in print and online in established, up-and-coming, and aspiring niche publications. This number also includes poems that have appeared on signs as part of public poetry installations.In addition, I make time to read and comment upon the work of other writers, study the craft of writing, take part in poetry readings and writing groups, run writing workshops, correspond with editors, collaborate with writers and artists, give talks about poets and poetry, guest-edit a literary journal, mentor emerging poets, and self-publish via WordPress, Instagram, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and a bi-annual e-sampler — activities that round out my writing life. <---[This looks like a lot, but it gets spread out over the year, so it's really quite manageable.]I also run two groups:* Poetry in Public Places Project, a Facebook / real-world group advocating more poetry in public places: www.facebook.com/groups/PoetryInPublicPlacesProject/.* Crossover Collaboration: Wordsmiths & Artists Creating Together, a LinkedIn group that brings together wordsmiths and artists to collaborate on mixed-discipline projects:https://www.linkedin.com/groups/8663304/.
