Mac Watson is a Canadian multihyphenate – filmmaker-actor-writer-producer – currently based in Los Angeles.She first moved to the US in 2017 to attend UCLA’s Producers Program where she received her Master of Fine Arts. In her time in LA she has amassed a wide range of experience in the industry – she has produced several short films and music videos, adapted her award-winning student film Casanova into a TV pilot, optioned the pilot to a production company, and pitched the project to major networks, joined SAG-AFTRA as an actor, and recently served as a VFX coordinator on an upcoming blockbuster film. Drawing from her eclectic life experience and an innate dark sense of humor, Mac writes comedies and thrillers – often heavy on the satire – that center gritty, complicated women, punks, weirdos, antiheroes, and underdogs fighting the good fight against societal goliaths like sexism, systemic injustice, and Hollywood fuckery.Mac is also an alumni of the inaugural year of TRIBE, Insecure executive producer/writer Amy Aniobi’s writing talent incubator she runs under her production company SuperSpecial. She joined SAG-AFTRA in 2023 and she is represented for theatrical by Michael Davis at Citizen Skull Management. Her feature, It Girl, is currently a quarterfinalist in Screencraft’s Feature Competition and is in the top 21% discoverable projects on Coverfly. As of summer 2024, she is in pre-production on the short film, proof-of-concept version, Last Laugh, which she wrote, will star in, and direct.
