I left school at 16 and joined the British Army. I served 4 years with the Royal Artillery as an Observation Post (OP) radio operator directing artillery fire from the front line.When I left the army I studied Electrical Engineering to OND, HNC/D and finally BSc (Hons) level.The qualifications helped me to secure a position as an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Design Engineer with Rolls-Royce Naval Marine in Derby, UK working in support of the Royal Navy nuclear submarine fleet. I remained with Rolls-Royce for the next 10 years.In 2003 I left Rolls-Royce and travelled to Florida, USA to pursue a dream and study for a Commercial Pilot Licence, Helicopters, CPL(H) at Helicopter Adventures Inc.I completed the CPL(H) and subsequently returned to the UK. In late 2005 I enrolled on a Single Engine Instrument Rating (SEIR) course with Bristow Helicopters in Norwich, a requirement in order to fly as an offshore pilot.Employment with CHC as a First Officer swiftly followed and I remained with CHC until redundancy in 2015I have flown most S76 variants but now I’m only current on the AW139.I have flown from most of the CHC European bases (Aberdeen, Humberside, Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Den Helder). I have also toured with CHC Global Ops in Equatorial Guinea, Tanzania, Mozambique, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Ireland and Malta.After I was made redundant by CHC Global Ops , I secured contract pilot positions on the AW139 with Babcock MCS in Ghana and Cyprus and again with CHC UK.In February 2019 I joined WeststarNDD to work on a long term offshore contract in Equatorial Guinea flying the AW169 and AW139.Due to imposed contractual changes, I left Weststar in July 2023 and took time off to renovate a new property.In December 2023 I started work with CHC Helicopters as a contract pilot flying the AW139, where I remain to date.
