I am not like the average Geology students!Yes, I am a science lover and a Geoscience geek that loves our planet and that is fascinated by the world around me, but I am also a foreign student, thousands of miles away from home and any family, that had to learn a second language and to work really hard in order to get here, which means that I don't take anything for granted. Since the day I arrived in the U.S I knew that in order to be noticed I would need to rise higher than the locals, which made me always aim for A's in every class, even foundations. It didn't take long and I collected fruits of my hard work at the end of my 2nd semester, when I was granted with a full academic scholarship, which I managed to maintain, as a full-time student and with a 3.95 GPA, for two consecutive years, while working part-time, and being a husband and a dad.I consider myself an aspiring scientist and I want to use my knowledge to help improve our society, and the world's constant need for energy provides geologists with a chance to do it by finding more responsible and efficient ways to explore our natural resources. What a fun and challenging job!I am a good communicator, which makes me exceptional in group working. I am optimistic about things and if I don't know something, I go after the answers.As an undergraduate student at BYU-Idaho, I had the opportunity to get involved in a senior project in which I developed strong technical writing skills and experienced with true scientific research and reasoning.My plan is to become a Petroleum Geologist soon after finishing my master's degree, that I hope will involve sequence stratigraphy, geophysics, or structural geology.I am searching for opportunities to expand my knowledge working as an intern, in the field, or as a research project assistant. I expect, with this profile, to be able to find all these opportunities, to expand my network and to connect with good mentors that will help me to achieve my career goals.
