I was hired on to Pengrowth as a Senior Production Engineer for the Heavy Oil Business Unit. I transferred to Senior Reservoir Engineer a short time after that. My responsibilities included leading the HO Bus Unit looking after operated properties centered around Provost-Macklin and non operated properties, including Tangleflags Steamflood. I implemented projects such as pressure maintenance at South Bodo using water, optimizing waterflood at East Bodo, Polymer Flooding Pilots at East Bodo and Cosine, etc.As Subsurface Lead for Lindbergh SAGD project I was responsible for reservoir, production, drilling and completions engineering. I performed full cycle econimics for the SAGD project including pilot to 10,000 bopd commercial with expansion to 20,000 bopd. I had to support the regulatory applications (ERCB, AB Env & AB DoE) and public relations process.

My experience at PanCanadian (Encana) ranged from facilities/project engineering to Facilities Engineering Coordinator. The projects covered both oil and gas, e.g. pipelines, separators, satellites, gas sweetening and dehydration, generic heavy oil battery design to shorten installation time etc. As a Coordinator I was responsible for setting up the Facility Engineering Department for a newly created business unit, including budgeting, recruiting, training, establishing procurement and QA procedures, EPCM evaluation, etc. Staff grew from 1 to 8 people with an annual capital budget of $40MM. At the transition to Encana, I was interim Production Engineering Group Lead for the Pelican Lake BU, responsible for drilling, completions, production and facilitiy engineering. I later transferred into the Reservoir Engineering Group and was charged with finding an EOR / IOR methodology to increase oil recovery post waterflood. This involved screening various recovery methods (immiscible CO2, thermal, chemical flooding, etc.) before landing on polymer flooding. I coordinated reservoir simulation, economic analysis, pilot project design and implementation. From screening to pilot start up was six months.
