Wayne Baxter is a Professor of New Testament and GreekServing the church in the academy. at Heritage College & Seminary. He possess expertise in teaching, bible, preaching, biblical studies, public speaking and 7 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "Anyone who can earn a Doctorate in Early Christianity certainly needs to be recognized. For that reason alone it is my pleasure to recommend my esteemed colleague Wayne Baxter. Second my Catholics colleagues (Scripture Institute) in Europe although not members of Linked In also chimed in and pointed out (my early education was Roman Catholic, Irish you know) that McMaster University, Kings University College has more than a fine reputation and is recognized in many areas across the pond. Third we at Scripture Institute are always wanting to encourage young (I am 490 dogs years old) educators with what we see as promise. The point that I raise as an Historical Theologian is an objection to the "painting with a broad brush" those documents written by those seeking to understand this "seemly new belief system" Christianity which was in fact a new understanding of who, and what the message of the Hebrew Messiah was all about. As a linguist I appreciate the opportunity to study how the information was presented and in what manner. As a Christian I enjoy the attempts of early believers to flesh out the body of truths that have been settled by compromise through the years As a believer I hold that each scrap of early writings provide some perhaps new insight that might have been overlooked in the rush to consolidate the "New belief system" We have in our lifetime the opportunity the great privilege and honor to examine not only the canonical scriptures but those written perhaps before and after of which I suggest should be studied by scholars as well. Such non-canonical gospels as The Gospel of the Nazareans, The Gospel of the Ebionites, The Gospel According to the Hebrews, The Gospel According to the Egyptians, The Coptic Gospel of Thomas Papyrus Egerton,: The Unknown Gospel, The Gospel of Peter, The Gospel of Mary, The Gospel of Philip, The Gospel of Truth, The Gospel of the Savior, The Infancy Gospel of Thomas, The Proto-Gospel of James, The Epistle of the Apostles, The Coptic Apocalypse of Peter, The Second Treatise of the Great Seth, The Secret Gospel of Mark just to name a few. For one to complain that these writings have no value or worse to say that they are "heretical" without ever have spent time at least once reading them strikes me as the same person who might say "Why should I bother to learn algebra?, I'll never use it in the ‘real world'" Should everyone immerse themselves in those books, Certainly not! But they also could remember that in the first centuries these writings were read and valued by those who were, as we are twenty-one centuries removed seeking answers to the same questions that mankind has sought since the dawn of time. Wayne is a excellent example of that type of educator that all should have, and has our highest regards not only for his teaching but his scholarship as well."
