Responsible for establishing and managing a newly created Information Security department, covering IT Security, Business Continuity and Data Protection across all Group companies. This involved:• Recruitment, development and performance management of a team of 12 permanent staff, and external specialist resource as required.• Definition and maintenance of strategies, policies, procedures, technical standards and guidelines for IT Security, BC and DP.• Provision of risk assessment and advice to existing business areas and new projects.• As Group Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act across all Group companies.• Generation and successful implementation of a number of security improvement initiatives, including application layer Firewalls, Email and Internet content scanning, IDS, Internet based remote access solution, Single Sign-On to all core systems, and security awareness programmes.
