Biography: Wayne BellWayne Bell is an international authority on the application of information and communication technology in health care. He is a past Director of the Canadian Society of Telehealth and the International Society for Telemedicine.In 1997, Mr. Bell founded the Artificial Reality Testing Integration and Communications (ARTIC) Lab, which was opened by Prime Minister Jean Chretien, as Canada’s first commercial Virtual Reality research facility. A Canadian delegate to the G-7/G-8 Special Project in Telemedicine, Wayne has served on several telehealth committees and working groups for Health Canada, Industry Canada and other national bodies including the Canada Health Infrastructure Partnerships Program (CHIPP) Standards and Interoperability Advisory Committee and the National Initiative for Telehealth Guidelines (NIFTE) Advisory Committee.Mr. Bell is a Past-Director of the Canadian Computational Collaboratory and the European Union’s SeniorWatch Technology Observatory. Since 2001, Wayne has acted as a Telemedicine Advisor to the Commonwealth of Nations and the Health & Population Advisory Service of the World Bank. In the area of telehealth research, Mr. Bell maintains numerous agreements with several Canadian and international medical schools, as well as a memorandum of understanding with the United States Air Force and a technology transfer agreement with NASA. Wayne is the Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Group headquartered in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada with branch offices in Canada and China.
