I am currently accountable for overseeing financial planning across business operations and providing support and invoicing to the subsidiary company in Hong Kong as well as across multiple global locations. I provide key insights to senior business leaders regarding financial performance and strategies, and manage activities across multiple business functions including payroll, HR and financial accounts. In addition, I produce monthly financial reports, analyse cost variances, risks and opportunities and control the budget with the aim of seeking cost improvement authorisation. Most notably, I championed R&D refund with HMRC after reviewing 3 years of accounts to secure refunds to date of £1,086k to be offset against future profits and succeeded in continuing the process YOY since 2012. In addition, I reviewed rates payments to identify overpayments to the property landlord and secure a refund of £55k for the business, led implementation of accounting processes, systems and controls to bring financial functions in-house, and improved cash flow for the company by sourcing and securing a £350 loan. Furthermore, I was instrumental in reviewing external audit costs to identify a significant discrepancy in charges and subsequently sourced a new external audit company which reduced annual costs from £35k to £9.5k.

During this period, I was engaged to support the senior management team in making commercial decisions using financial insights and information through preparing and presenting comprehensive accounting reports. I assisted in the preparation of the month end management accounts for 5 Finance Managers / Finance Director, recorded financial transactions, reviewed and reconciled spending with budgets, analysed financial data for periodic accruals and prepayments, and reconciled general ledger.

I was appointed on a temporary contract to prepare monthly management accounts and associated reports for the Board of Directors and support the preparation and analysis of financial forecasts and budgets. My remit also included managing and training the Credit Control team whilst coordinating bank account reconciliations.
