Over forty years experience in engineering. All but three years have been in the nuclear industry with T.V.A. (14 years), Southern Company/Southern Nuclear (17 years) and Bechtel (6 years). Three years with T.V.A. were at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant site during construction. The remaining 11 years with T.V.A. were in engineering design. During this time, I was the Unit 1 79-14 coordinator in Knoxville, performed walkdowns, was one of the initial members of the site group for pipe hanger work at Watts Bar and part of the pipe hanger group at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. My time with Southern Company was working in design in Birmingham on Vogtle Electric Generating Plant. However, I was a frequent visitor to the plant site, performing walkdowns, making presentations as the lead engineer on Design Change Requests (DCR) and working refueling outages as the engineering liason, mostly on the night shift. During this time, I performed calculations using GTSTRUDL, MathCad and other programs. With Bechtel, I am back at Watts Bar working on the Unit 2 Completion project. Initially, I reviewed 79-14 walkdown packages for completion and adherence to procedures. My current role is that of a member of the Resident Engineering Group. Responsibilites here focus on resolution of construction problems related to the installation of pipe supports. Duties include walkdowns for constructabilty, resolving conflicts between the design and what can be built and reviewing and approving Field Change Requests (FCRs). This involves coordination with the Field Engineering, Craft and design personnel. I also do calculations for the changes requested. I have used Microsoft programs such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other programs.
