About Wayne Crumpton

I started my law enforcement and public safety career in 1976 and have continued in that field to present day. I have worked in corrections, police, sheriff, and ems. I have extensive training in emergency dispatch, corrections, law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services. I have worked in patrol, plain clothes, as a Shift Sergeant, a Lieutenant in Internal Affairs, and as Chief of Police. I have worked in the fire service and emergency medical service as a firefighter, a Lieutenant, a Captain, an Assistant Chief and as an Emergency Medical Technician. I also have many years of experience in emergency services dispatching.

    I was forced to take a medical retirement in February of 2011, due to end stage liver disease. I had been on the organ transplant list since 2008, and my health slowly began to decline. In 2011, I was forced to take a medical retirement due to my continuing health problems.. My health continued to decline and finally, on September 22, 2011, I got the call I had been waiting for. Jewish Hospital, in Louisville, Kentucky, called and told me they had a liver for me. I received my transplant and went home after a few weeks in the hospital. After a few weeks at home my health began to decline again. I found out that my new liver was failing and I would need another transplant. I was again placed on the organ transplant list. On November 26, 2011, I received my second liver transplant. After a long and complicated recovery I was able to return to work on April 7, 2014.
