The Civil Process Division of Clark County is responsible for a number of duties designated by the courts. The Civil Division Officer acts as a court liaison, or officer for the court. The Civil Division is to perform duties for the court such as the service of civil process paperwork. Court officers are primarily responsible for providing security services within their respective courtrooms. During court proceedings, court officers observe all parties present to ensure proper behavior and overall public safety. Court officers enforce the judge's courtroom regulations and ensure that prisoners, jury members and witnesses have their needs taken care of. They are also charged to apprehend and arrest overly disruptive or violent individuals. Court officers also prepare and organize court documents and case records for each trial.

Oversees the day-to-day operations, activities, and personnel on an assigned shift to ensure compliance of established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Ensures appropriate staffing levels are maintained; creates seating assignment rosters; prepares and conducts line-up briefings to maintain awareness of relevant events.Responsible for the effective supervision and administration to include staff development and training, performance management, employee relations, prioritizing and assigning work and related activities and approving and monitoring leave requests. Advises staff on difficult issues and makes decisions on exceptional situations to manage and implement appropriate services and assistance.Ensures the operational readiness of equipment related to the 9-1-1 emergency telephone system, user and affiliated agency radio systems, and the department’s computer aided dispatch system (CAD). Duties of emergency service dispatch include answering calls and prioritizing the level of emergency, dispatching the appropriate personnel, operating the phone, computer assisted dispatching system and computer systems handling pertinent information about the emergency and assisting the caller to communicate critical information about the emergency accurately. Gathering of information related to medical emergencies, the provision of assistance and instructions by voice, prior to the arrival of Emergency Medical Services, and the dispatching and support of EMS resources responding to an emergency call.

I was forced to take a medical retirement in February of 2011, due to end stage liver disease. I had been on the organ transplant list since 2008, and my health slowly began to decline. In 2011, I was forced to take a medical retirement due to my continuing health problems.. My health continued to decline and finally, on September 22, 2011, I got the call I had been waiting for. Jewish Hospital, in Louisville, Kentucky, called and told me they had a liver for me. I received my transplant and went home after a few weeks in the hospital. After a few weeks at home my health began to decline again. I found out that my new liver was failing and I would need another transplant. I was again placed on the organ transplant list. On November 26, 2011, I received my second liver transplant. After a long and complicated recovery I was able to return to work on April 7, 2014.

As a Lieutenant I was assigned as an Internal Affairs Investigator, investigating complaints of wrong doing by employees of the 1000+ members of the department. The Internal Affairs Unit investigates incidents and plausible suspicions of law breaking and professional misconduct attributed to officers and civilians on the department. Investigate violations of agency policy, allegations of misuse of public office, uses of force and control by officers, and accusations of criminal wrongdoing by members of the department. Interview victims, witnesses and suspects and produce extensive investigative reports. Respond to scenes, and to sites where improper conduct is alleged to have occurred. Conduct interviews and interrogations, write investigative reports, provide courtroom testimony, testify at employment hearings and make recommendations to command personnel.
