Wayne is the Asbestos Manager for Energy Queensland , Energex and Ergon Energy, these are Queensland Government Owned, Electricity Distribution Companies that service Queensland. In this role he is accountable for the management of the asbestos risk across the three businesses, development and deployment strategies, policies and procedures by providing analysis, information, advice, and education on the management and control of asbestos throughout the group.He also manage the business-wide Safe System of Work for High Risk Construction Work involvingAsbestos by developing, deploying and maintaining effective standards and procedures with a focus on prevention, as the primary means of controlling the risk of exposure to airborne fibres. Wayne is also a member of the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency (ASEA) Senior Steering Committee and Technical Advisory Group for Asbestos Training in the Utility SectorIn 2015 Ergon Energy was recognised by the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency (ASEA) of providing Best Practice in Asbestos Management, see attached link: https://www.asbestossafety.gov.au/best-practice-case-studiesIn 2014 Wayne was invited to present on the implementation of a “Best Practice” Asbestos Management system, at the 1st at International conference on Asbestos Management and awareness held in Melbourne. Wayne’s career extends across a range of disciplines and operations fields. He served in the Australian Army for over 21 years and on retirement from the Army, Wayne served as a Health and Safety Professional at a large Zinc Refinery in Queensland, He was a founding member of the then Australian Army Safety Advisory Service, that conducted Safety audits on Army Units across Australia.Wayne went on to be the manager of the HSE Audit Team within Ergon Energy creating and managing an integrated audit compliance system.
