I started in this exciting industry as a sandblaster painter way back in Saskatoon, SK. Most of the work involved large structural steel beams, and tanks of all sizes both interior and exterior. Worked with interior coatings such as Stonhard and Tiling. I was up in Key Lake Uranium Mine construction (great fishing), on-site at potash mines above ground and below, and then my hands-on career ended at the Lloydminster Husky Upgrader. It has been a long time since this all happened but I thoroughly enjoyed blasting and painting and miss it still today.I then moved into the manufacturing industry working for a very large Agricultural manufacturer in Saskatoon. Traveling and being away from home with a young family sent me on this path. I started as a production liquid painter, then moved over to powder coating as the company started trying new coatings technologies. This is when I began getting into the technical aspects and theory of coatings both liquid and powder. I then managed the Process Control Department and the Paint Line Maintenance Crew. It was a great time to be in the Powder Coating Industry as we were one of the first large Agricultural manufacturers to start switching Powder from Liquid. This company was then purchased by an even larger one and I decided to move on.I then made a big leap into sales as over the years I picked up a tremendous amount of hands-on experience in all aspects of the powder and liquid process. I was lucky to have met and made friendships with some of the leaders in the industry. I enjoyed it and am thankful for all the help I got over the years again from some great people, who incidentally I still talk to many of them. I am now with Ventcor which is Canada's largest Systems Integrator in Canada serving all of North America. This is the peak of my career so far. I have the chance now to work with some great engineers and am still learning. I can't complain, it is great.I ventured into the Automotive Refinish Industry as a diversification plan, where I am currently the Western Canadian Accudraft Representative. My strengths always have been creating customer relations through trust. I am experienced with shop layout, production flow design, and setting up maintenance and service programs.
