CurrentIn 2010, he became Editor & Founder of the self-funded Creative Short Book Writers’ ProjectThe express purpose was, and still is, to encourage selected regional writers, poets, photographers and artisans to publish a first edition, advanced copy of their book or collection. His "Writing as Art, Editing & Publishing workshops takes participants through the ‘pages, phases and stages’ of designing and writing a book from cover page, title page with ISBN, copyright statement, content pages and biographical back page. Participants receive a sample cover folder, steps to success worksheet in self-publishing and hear from local writers who have published and sold books as a result of attending the workshop. He is author of Writing as Art, Editing and Publishing: A guidebook for every day writers and artisans, Appalachian Sunrise: Finding My Way Home, My Alamance: A Photographer’s Notebook, A Photographer’s Notebook: Lyrical Writings and Photographs from the 1960’s. Through his library workshop he provides one-time gift-in-kind sponsorship of time and talent for cover and book design, editing assistance and publishing to interested writers. Since 2010, the project has assisted over 80 local and regional authors and artisans in publishing their books.
