From Aug 1988 to June 1990 was Officer-in-Charge of Eureka Weather Station, overseeing all aspects of the operation of the station, located 600 nm from the North Pole, in Canada's Arctic

Offshore Drilling Rigs (NS)

Worked as surface weather observer and radio operator on offshore drilling rigs. Was responsible for maintaining active weather watch and reporting changes to onshore forecast centre. Responsible for daily briefings of ship’s captain and senior bridge staff of expected weather conditions over the next 48 hours. Rotational work was generalized 2 or 3 weeks.

Sable Island Upper Air Station

After training as an Aerological Observer at Transport Canada Training Institute in Cornwall, Ontario, was posted to isolated post at Sable Island. Conducted surface weather and aerological observations, maintained radio watch and performed other duties as assigned. Postings on island ranged from 6 months to 8 months then 2 or 4 weeks leave on the mainland.
