Vice President of Events, primarily responsible for Events Logistics and New Event Development, overseeing more than 1,000 event employees. Hired as Communications Director, responsible for all public relations and publications.Developed and managed Bristol’s dirt races for World of Outlaws. Created a new sanction fee-free model that enabled Bristol to host non-NASCAR events, like Hooters Pro Cup, UARA late model, and Frank Kimmel street stock events. Oversaw the fan access logistics that the Super Bowl and Rose Parade logistics team failed to improve. Recruited a “who’s who” list of drivers (Earnhardt, Waltrip, Gordon, Petty, Allison, etc.) to charity dinners and promotional events supporting Bristol’s races. Managed speedway’s participation in its first two Remote Area Medical clinics that provided free dental and health care to hundreds of needy families. Worked with executive team to develop speedway’s mission statement and strategic plans. Developed and managed large budgets every year for 17 years.

Served as Ford Racing’s NASCAR Public Relations Manager; traveled to NASCAR races; created public relations programs to promote Ford Racing; managed logistics for Ford executives attending motorsports events.At first event, changed the “pit notes” process to a more thorough transcript of interviews and press conferences. Previously, the pit note model was extraordinarily brief. Coached new media relations representatives for Ford teams, and created a previously unknown synergy. Helped develop a crisis communications plan used extensively during catastrophic events involving Davey Allison, Ernie Irvan and Alan Kulwicki. Developed promotional programs and NASCAR/Ford street parties in Orlando, New York, Michigan, Atlanta and California. Created and further developed a Ford Motorsport Employee Day at World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.

Atlanta

Hired as photojournalist for Company’s internal publications, promoted to assistant manager of Publications Department for Coca-Cola USA. Visited bottlers across the country to develop business stories for magazines; worked with Atlanta executives to produce internal business magazine articles.Developed publication commemorating the 75th Anniversary of a bottler periodical. Created magazine features for memorable moments, including introduction of New Coke, the Detroit Tigers World Series, the company’s Centennial, the L.A. Olympics, and the Coca-Cola 12-Hours of Sebring.

Savannah, Ga.

Covered NASCAR races, NFL and NCAA football games. Primary beat was the M.C. Anderson Racing Team, a Savannah-based NASCAR Winston Cup team that featured Benny Parsons and Cale Yarborough as drivers. Also developed the newspaper’s first weekly motorsports column. Wrote a memorable feature picked up by AP on NASCAR team transporter drivers who continued their work through the middle of a national truckers’ strike.
