My experience lies predominantly in underground longwall coal mining, in a technical capacity with accountability including: mine planning; surveying; geotechnical engineering; exploration; gas drainage and project sponsorship including the design and construction of a 5 metre diameter downcast ventilation shaft and associated life of mine infrastructure.After completing my degree in Mining Engineering in 1998, I have since completed a Master of Mining Engineering (Mine Geomechanics) through the School of Mining Engineering, University of New South Wales. I have also obtained the industry recognised competency RIIUND603A for Establishing and Maintaining the Mine Ventilation System. Furthermore, I have RII competencies (AQF Level 6) for Establishing the Occupational Health and Safety and Risk Management Systems.I have extensive experience in mine planning and business improvement systems as well as broader management operating systems for which these are integrated with.I was Technical Services Manager at Rio Tinto's Kestrel Mine between 2011-2017 before joining the Rio Tinto Growth & Innovation Product Group. I am currently Senior Manager Underground Major Hazards for the Rio Tinto Group, accountable for the development and improvement of technical standards and procedures used to manage underground major hazard risks and for the assurance of these.
