About Wayne Goss
My name is Wayne Goss II. I go by a multitude of names, but my artist name is NIKO X. I am 19 years old. I was born on February 3rd, 2004, in Washington DC. I was raised in Clinton Maryland with my mother, Renee Richardson (Goss), my father, Wayne Goss Sr. my older sister, Bayyinah Goss, and my youngest Sister, Giovanni Goss. I am a Musician/Rapper. Ever since I was a baby, all I did was make music. My mom immediately knew that I was a drummer because I would drum on everything that was around me. I was self-taught but my parents put me in lessons so I could really perfect my craft. Wille Howell was one of my favorite teachers, I can easily say that he helped me become the musician that I am today.Ive had the opportunity to perform at the 2021 MTV VMA'S Awards with Busta Rhymes.Hip-hop music was combined with African drumming and dancing. The encounter altered my life.Additionally, I had the chance to collaborate with Kara Mack and Fatima Robinson (two well known dance choreographers.) I’m in a West-African Drum and Dance company called Farafina Kan. Farafina Kan literally means “The Sound of Africa”. In this company, we learn different songs and rhythms from across the western part of Africa. These rhythms can be played for weddings, birthdays, funerals, rites of passage ceremonies and many more. The drums that we use are called the Djembe and Dunun. The Djembe is a hand instrument that is constructed with different wood and animal skins, same as the Dunun. The word “Dunun” is a plural word, meaning a family. There is the “Dununba” (Ba, meaning parent, this one being the father), the “Sangba” (the mother), and the “Kenkeni” or “Kesedeni” (meaning baby or child). These drums have different responsibilities that are very essential in almost every rhythm we play. They can tell stories or speak in a language that the average American wouldn’t be able to hear or comprehend. These drums are used to call different spirits and ancestors that some people may not be able to reach.I started rapping and writing songs when I was 15 or 16 years old. It was initially meant as a joke, but I eventually warmed into it. Now, my goal in the music business is to go global. Which is why i dropped my first single/EP called "The Ultimate Mixtape". I am also currently enrolled in The Omega Studios’ School of Applied Recording Arts & Sciences for Audio engineering and Live sound. I believe that this school will help me understand a new side of the music industry. If you have any questions, you can reach me at (202)-316-9105
