I believe that topics that speaks about climate proofing, sustainable agriculture, diversification and improvement of farmers livelihoods should be the major topics in our day to day agriculture/agribusiness. in a quest to improve productivity, viability, and livelihoods of small-scale farmers. Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) launched a pilot program known as the Centralised tobacco Production and Curing System which i am leading. This program will also address issues of sustainability and diversification. Farmers should learn treat agriculture as a business and not a hobby!I am currently working as a Technical Officer for TIMB in the Mashonaland West province of Zimbabwe, responsible for >Promoting sustainable tobacco production in Zimbabwe e.g implementing afforestation programmes.>Promoting and regulating the production,processing and marketing of tobacco in Zimbabwe.>Farmer trainings >Promoting growth of alternative crops i.e diversification.>Currently managing a pilot project on Centralised tobacco Production and Curing, in Mashonaland WestI entered the Agricultural Industry as a Sales Agronomist. Helping farmers on the correct choice of agrochemicals, fertilizers, stock feeds to use. Worked as a Field Officer for Alliance One International where i was responsible for managing a group of about 150 small scale farmers from seed beds, production, curing to marketing of tobacco.Trained and worked in the tobacco marketing and processing industry as a tobacco classifier.
