About Wayne Healy

Founded in 1975, ELS is a collaborative public art team that has created art work in a wide variety of media. Our core design team consists of Director Wayne Healy and Project Manager Patricio Villagomez. In addition, several other artists, as well as, consulting architects, civil engineers, landscape architects and industrial fabricators are invited to enrich our vision and expertise on particular projects.

    From the very beginning, ELS’ public art projects have been grounded in site specificity. The two basic components of this philosophy concern the people and the environment. The people component addresses such issues as the local history, cultural heritage and symbolic iconography. Often presented as a visual narrative, ELS’ imagery strives to reflect positive feelings to the residents, workers and passers by that see the work. Although the visual message may celebrate the local color, the work is presented in a universal language that is easily understood by viewers from around the world. The environmental component requires that the work be totally integrated into the host architecture and be complimentary to the surrounding landscape, streetscape and public traffic patterns. By following this philosophy, ELS’ public installations have become landmarks in their respective communities.
