The past 15 years has involved an intertwining of business interests (Seasons Aged Care, Brisbane Private Hospital) and investing (Ganes Capital Management and The Intelligent Investor).Ganes Capital Management is a Brisbane based boutique funds management business and the investment manager for the Ganes Focused Value Fund and the Ganes Value Growth Fund. Ganes specialises in Small cap Australian equities using a value investing approach, based around stock selection and investment research. My experience as business owner and CPA, along with post-graduate studies in finance, have proven invaluable in identifying good quality businesses that provide attractive returns for investors over the longer-term.Ganes was founded with just $100,000 under management and currently has funds under management of $65million across our Managed Funds and for High Net Worth individuals.Previously, as Director of Finance at Brisbane Private Hospital, a major inner city surgical hospital, I was a member of the syndicate involved in the due diligence and acquisition of the hospital. During the ensuing five years of ownership we restructured the business and gained efficiencies which saw profit increase by 300% in that time. I was also an integral part of the sale process which led to its sale in 2007 to Healthscope, providing an excellent return for the owners.As a result of roles prior to this I am experienced in all aspects of strategic planning and management finance, I have conducted due diligence for various acquisitions in the private hospital sector, and have written extensively on investment analysis, portfolio construction and investor education.
