It has been rewarding to fulfill a number of teaching roles during my years at Prince of Peace. I have been privileged to teach kindergarten as part or all of my teaching assignment every year. I taught physical education for Grade 1, Christian Studies for Grades 4, 7, 8, and 9, and general music for Grades 1-9.My educational experience palate included teaching an audio/lighting tech option course for junior high, leading music for 3 chapels each week, coaching Grade 6 volleyball, as well as organizing, coordinating, and leading our school's Terry Fox Run every year. This event had 100% participation by students and staff and raised over $30,000 through the years.When our school adopted the "Leader in Me" program (7 Habits for schools by Stephen Covey) My musical creativity allowed me to write and record original songs and videos to help teach and reinforce the concepts of the program for the whole school. As the lead teacher of this program I collaborated with colleagues to promote its integration into the classroom environment.

I was hired as a teacher/principal for our local independent Christian School. Beside being the administrator, I taught full time. My largest responsibility was teaching a multi-grade class of K-3 students with a class size average of about 20 students. I also taught physical education for all grade K-7, beginning band for Grades 5-7, and ran and maintained the small computer network in the school.I organized and carried out several fund-raising events each year were needed to supplement our operating budget. One such event was an annual musical dinner/theatre production that involved every child in the performance and all school families in supplying and serving the food.To compensate for our school lack of playground space and gymnasium, I organized the use of local recreational facilities, public parks, and sporting venues. Each year I coordinated with colleagues from 2 other Christian schools in the Okanagan Valley to put on soccer matches and a day long Sports Day.

I started my career here with teaching Grade 3 half-time and substitute teaching in all other grades. The following year I applied for and taught my first full-time classroom of Grade 2. The next year I received a permanent teaching contract and taught Grade 1 for two years. The following year I was moved to full-time kindergarten and taught in that capacity for 2 more years.These challenging 6 years of having different teaching assignments prepared me well for what was to come next in my career.
