I am a skilled hands-on research engineer and a trained, proven leader. I thrive on new, innovative developments. I am specialized in leading engineering for business opportunities, new product development, intellectual property, strategic planning, and marketing. UPDATESIn May 2013 I became a consultant to a local company pursuing a biomedical diagnostic product development. NDAs preclude identifying the company or the product, but my work involves the fabrication, metrology and testing of microscopic structures, materials science, optical physics, process development, research and engineering. Work is progressing toward the objectives of the company. In April of 2012 I joined a local IT company as VP of Marketing. I created their first digital marketing framework, launched a lead generation campaign. I engaged enterprise customers and aligned their sales team with the decision makers. Those efforts were in play when I left in 2013 for personal reasons. PRIOR TO THESE RECENT ACTIVITIESFor over 16 years I led and founded successful engineering start-up companies and "wore all the hats". I developed products that generated many $MM of revenue. Recognizing the diversity of my background, in 2011 Johns Hopkins University invited me to teach Marketing, Strategy and Operations at the Carey School of Business. This led to engagements involving Digital Marketing processes. In 1994 I founded, Microcosm, Inc. We developed over 30 instrumentation and software products for DoD and industrial applications. We grew rapidly to over $3MM and won several SBIR projects leading to development of valuable intellectual property and products for life sciences. As the leader of that company I obtained over $20MM in R&D funding.I founded Applied Sciences, LLC as an engineering consulting company. That practice is the vehicle for my consulting engagements.
