The Deputy Chief Engineer (CE) provides support to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for the overall technical design integrity, compliance, and robustness of a balanced system design and is accountable to program, engineering leadership and the customer.The Deputy Chief Engineer (CE) provides technical direct and oversight to both the internal engineering team and to our extended team member for both production and development activities.Duties include:• Provide technical leadership to IM SHORAD development task orders as they are awarded.• Provide leadership of technical decisions to be coordinated thru the Systems Engineering Integration Team (SEIT).• Coordinate and work through technical issues with the IM SHORAD customer, the GDLS team and leads from our major subcontractors.• Responsibility for ensuring that all technical products are developed and delivered and a good balanced design is achieved within cost and schedule constraints• Responsibility for the product design and resolution of architecture/design conflicts• Manages product development architecture/design (system, physical, data, communications, structure, survivability, thermal, etc.). Approval of system architectures and any changes, conditions, inputs and final resolution for requirements, trades, and alternatives• Responsibility for leading all system level DFMEAs including the initial development of Fishbone Diagrams

Act as primary interface between engineering and the prototype build shop responsible for vehicle level system integration, verification, and problem reporting/resolution. Duties include:Plan the physical and functional integration activityEstablish and manage prototype build engineering bill of materials (EBOM)Assist in prototype hardware procurement and trackingMonitor work being performed in the shop (vehicle assembly, part fabrication, part kitting, mock-up fabrication, etc.)Coordinate Engineering assistance as necessary to support prototype shop activitiesGenerate Engineering Problem Reports to document design or build issuesSupport system level integration and testing where necessaryMaintain compliance with department processes and procedures including ISO and IPS standardsDevelop and maintain Prototype/Mockup build schedulesInitiate shop work orders to monitor and manage workSupport the development and review of C-MOD and kit installation instructions, Support Design Integration concept and space claim analysis
