Responsible for all aspects of leadership development across The BMW UK Production Triangle (Oxford, Swindon and Hams Hall). Working in the HR function I had a Change Management brief across the same plants focussing on shaping, driving, communicating and measuring change programmes.Leadership Development• As Change Management Specialist my brief was to sustainably improve the leadership capability of leaders across the UK Production Triangle (Plants Oxford, Swindon and Hams Hall). The scope of the project covers 450 + leaders from Production Process Leader to Plant Director. • Developing a bespoke ‘training’ programme with a business partner designed to provide an experiential learning approach based on a framework of leadership behaviours. Now in its second generation.• Provision of a 1 to 1 coaching to support the application of the learning from the above programme.• Review of the current ‘management systems’ with the plant director and his first line to identify opportunities to create ‘headroom’ to allow the new leadership behaviours to be applied. • Creation of a new leadership ‘space’ in which to deliver the development programme but also to act as a reference point and source of inspiration/motivation for all leaders at the plants mentioned above.• Definition of leadership level requirements and assessment tools to gauge current and future capability.• Introduced a ‘leadership app’ to ensure leaders are connected and have access to Programme content and supporting information to enable them to use the learning.Workshop preparation, facilitation and follow-upProvided support to senior management teams ti facilitate leadership challenges and team development using many of the tools from the Leadership Programme above.Employee engagementDeveloped a framework for optimising employee engagement and facilitated a cross functional team to ensure consistent application. Ran the BMW Group employee survey for Plants Oxford, Swindon and Hams Hall.

• Vehicle run-out planning with specific focus on supplier Quality and Logistics. Analysis of supplier risks associated with the vehicle production stop and prioritisation/escalation of concerns to ensure smooth run-out. • New vehicle supplier day preparation and delivery. Organisation of all aspects of supplier day including supplier selection, invitation, preparation of facility and presentation materials, plant tours and all associated support services (catering, security, transport etc). Received the best ever post event feedback from suppliers.• Supplier production capacity review and increase investigation. Clarity of supplier capability to enable vehicle volume flexibility.

Led a team of specialists, across three production sites, covering all elements of the communication landscape. Represented the department in the plant director’s circle and was involved in all aspects of the plant running to ensure opportunities were taken and risks avoided. Specific activities:External communication • Strategy and planning creating a robust forward plan of activities, opportunities and tools to deliver key messages and objectives; incorporate potential risks and issues• Media relations proactive and reactive work with regional and national media• Sponsorships and partnerships management ensuring that the business maintains its “license to operate” through projects with arts partners with strong community and schools outreach focus • Stakeholder management positioning of MINI Plant Oxford and BMW Group in the UK to local and regional stakeholders including councillors, MPs, councils and LEP• Crisis management member of crisis call-out team for MINI Plants Oxford and SwindonInternal communication• Using available communications channels (including employee briefs, plant intranet pages and in-dialogues) to deliver plant messaging, create employee awareness and optimise motivation.• Alignment of strategies, objectives and opportunities with external communications.• Preparation of plant director’s internal (and external) presentations and scripts.Event management and plant tours• Responsible for all VIP visitors to the plants. Preparation and management of visits including Prime Ministerial (Brown and Cameron x 2) and Royal visits to Plant Oxford. • Internal employee events – organised all aspects and provided content materials. Key achievements included the 2012 Olympic Torch relay – Plant Oxford employees carried the torch through the plant and the assembly hall.• Managed the plant tour offerings for the MINI Plant, including messaging, tour routes and visitor centre/shop.

• Plant Oxford Business Plan development – compilation of all elements of the business activities from strategic topics such as the long-term plant development to operational issues such as Human Resource management. Used as a reference document by the plant directors.• Quality Management Systems – management of the system and process database to ensure compliance with Quality standards.• Process audits – planned and spot audits to ensure process compliance.• Quality Promotion – increasing awareness of quality requirements and employee impact on vehicle quality via poster campaigns, dialogues, flyers etc.

• Managed a team of buyers responsible for the procurement of components for MINI production/aftermarket. Commodities included engines, transmissions, drive train, seats, interior/exterior trim, airbags and electrical components.• Procurement role included influencing component sourcing, total cost management and quality maturation in conjunction with Supplier Quality Assurance specialists.• Achieved a successful engine supply contract with Toyota for diesel engine supply and represented BMW Purchasing interests in the Joint Venture with Daimler Chrysler for the Brazilian manufactured Tritec engine.
