Single train maintenance engineer, looking to settle down with a career in safety management, involving long walks and cosy nights in.…. that was me thirty years ago.And I did it, I got married, got the career and even got the chartership, working across the industry in safety management roles for large infrastructure contractors, on track machine operators and international train operators, gaining lots of experience along the way .But that only tells you half the story about me, during this time I discovered my passion for communicating. I love to create information that is easily understood by the audience and above all else remembered, be it writing technical policies, business cases and reports, or using my skill at storytelling to deliver really engaging, imaginative and innovative presentations and training courses. Have you ever seen someone use an animated filled sandwich to explain the contents of a Safety Management System or a high jumper to explain the power of an industry standard? I bring the mundane to life and make it memorable.I offer unlimited enthusiasm to every project I am involved in, whether leading from the front taking others along on the journey or providing support to a team to bring out the best in them. In my non-work life, I use these skills to arrange kickboxing tournaments. You will find me as the MC in the ring, keeping the crowd energised and making each boxer feel special, so that they can perform to their best.Communication is a two-way thing and listening is so important to what I offer. I am an experienced facilitator and have achieved resolution between parties in many difficult situations. I am never short of ideas and solutions and I don’t give up easily. If something doesn’t work first time I will reset and try again from a different angle. Life is too short to be grey; I don’t do boring and find something exciting about every challenge I face.
