In this position I provided strategic management of the Data Center and LAN rooms to ensure that they meet the needs of existing and emerging technologies. Establishment and enforcement of data center policies and procedures. Implemented ITIL and Operational processes. Technical contributor for project initiatives. Identify areas for improvement within the service delivery environment and make recommendations to management. Data center project management from server moves to infrastructure upgrades. Strategic placement of servers, storage cabinets and infrastructure.  Floor plan redesign and cabinet consolidation to establish more cost efficient layouts. Facilitated meetings with engineering team regarding power, space and cooling. Planned hardware upgrades with technical support teams and vendors across multiple sites. Supervised Change management team for vendor related upgrades and installs for all Fidelity data center sites. Management of policies, procedures, meetings and supporting tools of change management. Area Control Rep for the Marlboro and Merrimack Data Centers. Responsible for all physical access to critical space. Supplied data and contributed to weekly Data Center power review meetings with Capacity, Regional support, building engineers and technical service teams. Pre-configured server hardware (HBA’s, memory, NIC’s) prior to installation

This position is responsible for the project management of all hardware installation activities. The position also encompassed crisis management for hardware problems, vendor management and troubleshooting of hardware and fiber cabling issues. Member of DSHMT (Distributed Systems Hardware Management Team). Installed the operating system and configured hardware for new sever deployments. Rack and stacked new servers. Coordinated installs and upgrades of IBM, Sun, EMC equipment and HP Blade enclosures.  On-call support for all hardware and fiber cabling issues.  Management of the deployment and decommissioning of hardware. Vendor management of day to day operations in the Data Center. Documentation and enforcement of best practices.

This opportunity required technical and supervisory support of AIX, Solaris, and Windows NT software and hardware issues.  Operational support – Proactive & reactive monitoring of the service delivery environment.  Work independently or with other members of the operational staff to resolve production problems, prevent outages, and meet SLA’s. Applied recently achieved (MCSE) to diverse enterprise. Unix / Windows support administrator.  Supported technical services teams as supervisor of Windows, AIX and Solaris Administration issues. Communication between hardware/software teams, senior management and business units. Escalation and vendor dispatch duties. Documentation and turnover for all ongoing issues and escalations. Documented and supported best practices.
