  I taught in the Chinooks Edge School Division for 24 years. Grades taught range from Grade 3 to 6. For many of those years I co-taught grade 5 and 6 with J. Goodyear. We had up to 50 students in our classroom, depending on the year. During those years we were given an award for our use of technology. We also were observed by a number of teachers from around the province. Somehow word of our "program" had been spread around and others wanted to learn the strategies. I have worked with a number of student teachers over the years. I have also integrated many of the strategies of cooperative learning, multiple intelligences, assessment for and of, and Habits of mind into my daily teaching. I use music, magic, humor, and emotion as well. During my years at Poplar Ridge I introduced Lit. Circles to the school, worked with administration to get parental acceptance of non graded report cards, started up a reading program which has moved on to other schools, and worked towards involving the community through Partners in Progress. I have been AISI leader and lasted one year as a vice principal before realizing being in the classroom was where I belonged. Now I am happily retired and enjoying time with my wife.
