I have over 30+ years in Retail Management, hospitality, and catering from Regional field roles, Buying and Store Management.I have proven experience in my garden centre buying role improving relationships and turnover for my suppliers whilst improving range, margin and exclusivity for Shoots garden centres creating footfall driving and unique offers in many categories from food, furniture, pets/aquatics,chems and ferts, giftware, toys, pots, statues, cabins and restaurants whilst promoting local foods and businesses and being involved in local communities.In my time with Shoots I was also instrumental in the growth of the business from 1 garden centre to 3 garden centres winning many industry awards including Garden Centre of the year.I am at current a Store Manager for The Original Factory Shop in Deal which is a wonderful opportunity to work in my home town and improve the relationship of the business with the town and it’s customers through great standards, service and range. I am in the process of turning a neglected and poor performing store into a profitable store. Since joining in July 2019 with re training and motivating my team I have changed a -12% in sales to -3% and improved stock loss from -7.9% to -1.3% in part seriously reducing theft and identifying the ‘non payers’ and also by continued stock counting and controls.I have worked in many businesses, responsible for the day to day running of the business and it’s franchises, supporting the owner and company with ranging, supplier negotiations, product knowledge, training, standards and customer service. I have previously been tasked to help an already successful centre improve further and be a credit to its owners and the local area offering many own grown plants and products at highly competitive prices.Previously I worked at Wilko as a store manager responsible for the day to day running of the store, kpi's, targets and budgets.I was responsible for 40 stores as a regional manager with PAH and a turnover in excess of £60m ensuring stores worked within targets and budgets achieving kpi's supporting, developing and retraining where necessary to achieve excellent service and standards, I was also involved in developing the steps programme for management trainees.As you can see this is just a small part of my retail experience but I still have a lot to learn and enjoy a challenge, I have a want to go to work attitude and am a motivational collaborative manager.Happy reading,Wayne
