I currently serve as the BioScience Consultant at Creative Discovery Museum, coordinating a national alternative energies STEM/STEAM educational outreach program. I presently work with museums and science centers in Tennessee, Alabama, Montana, and Washington.

DR. WAYNE ROBINSON SELECTED TO LEAD BIOSCIENCE EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH AT CREATIVE DISCOVERY MUSEUM IN CHATTANOOGA, TNWayne Robinson, Ph.D., has been selected by the Creative Discovery Museum as BioScience Coordinator. Dr. Robinson will be responsible for developing BioEnergy materials (curriculum, activities, websites, apps, distance learning lessons, etc.), as well as developing, implementing, and fostering partnerships focused on national dissemination of science and energy education that fits within the mission and vision of the Creative Discovery Museum and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He will serve as project manager on CDM’S behalf in science partnerships with federal agencies focused on alternative energy sources. A key component of his job is the development of relationships with, and between, federal agencies and other informal education sites across the country for the purpose of disseminating energy-focused educational content. Dr. Robinson led similar BioFuels Outreach efforts for the Creative Discovery Museum & Oak Ridge National Laboratory during the BioEnergy Science Center (BESC) Project for seven years (2011-2018).

S., as Biofuels Coordinator. Creative Discovery Museum was selected by Oak Ridge National Laboratory and University of Georgia’s Education Department to develop and pilot science lessons on biofuels and alternative energy for transportation in 2008. Robinson will lead the program which provides lessons by Museum outreach staff for Grades 4-7 on the scientific processes for creating biofuels from switchgrass rather than from corn. Robinson comes to the Museum with a Ph.D. and an Ed. S. degree in science education from Georgia State University and served as Director of Science Curriculum for Walker County (Ga.) Schools for the past 28 years. Robinson has been featured at numerous national conferences and has written for several educational and scientific publications. He currently serves as the President of the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium Board of Directors. “Wayne brings expertise and unique experience in the field of science education, successful project management and a passion for science education to this position,” said Jayne Griffin, Director of Education at Creative Discovery Museum. The BioEnergy Science Center (BESC) is conducting basic research that will improve the cost effectiveness of creating biofuels from non-food plant resources. Creative Discovery Museum has been actively involved in this outreach effort from the beginning and has developed and tested the educational components that are now being used nationwide. Robinson will represent CDM, the only institution in the United States that has implemented a model biofuels curriculum for elementary age students, in the BESC program in the future.

As the President of the Board of Directors, Dr. Robinson worked with 14 other Board members; as well as key leaders from the Georgia Educational Technology Conference, Georgia Educational Technology Fair, and Georgia Innovation Grants project, throughout each year. The Consortium provides oversight and funding for these endeavors, as well as other special innovative projects each year.

Responsible for all instructional and administrative technology in the Walker County, Georgia School District, including 4500+ computers, 30+ file servers, 20 local area networks, wide area network, Internet connectivity, email access, Internet filtering, CIPA compliance, FTE & SRR state reporting, etc. Supervision of eight Technology Specialists. Director of the Walker County Science and Technology Center and first Director of the Smith Planetarium. As a Science & Technology Specialist, and later as Assistant Director of the Global Thinking Project, Wayne travelled to the U.S.S.R. Soviet Union (1990) with team of seven other educators to install computer equipment and help establish a telecommunications network in Moscow and Leningrad. Installation enabled students and teachers in Soviet Union to communicate via SovAm, AppleLink, and Internet with students and teachers in United States. The Project Director was Dr. Jack Hassard, Professor Emeritus at Georgia State University.

Responsible for coordination of the largest educational technology conference in Georgia, with attendance during the three years averaging over 3,000 participants.

With certification in Ultrasonic Testing (Level II) and Magnetic Particle (Level II), was responsible for inspection for all nuclear power plant components, including reactors, steam generators, pressurizers, etc. Inspection was a continuous process from the receipt of pre-fabrication base metal to post-hydro pit pressurization.
