• Supervising/Managing an electrical maintenance department over three 8hr shifts (10 electricians).• Servicing and maintaining multiple and complex printing equipment equipped with PLC’s, DC and AC drives.• Responsible for a very large spare parts store inventory which had an asset value of approx. a million dollars+ and encompassed electrical/electronic parts used throughout the plant.• Maintain five HV/LV substations with a total connected capacity of 15MVA plus main HV intake substation.• HV operator for the print facility as per the ISMP (Installation Safety Management Plan).• Developed methods to reduce downtime on machinery and building services.• Design and implemented energy saving both on machinery and buildings.• Extensive report writing which recommended equipment upgrades, redesigns, performance and expenditure documents, as well as capital expenditure proposals presented to various management levels. • Being on Management committees to plan and discuss for future multi-million dollar printing machinery purchases and the electrical aspects of said purchases together with suitability of various optional equipment.• Liaising with local companies and contractors plus overseas companies over equipment supply, upgrades and installations, specifying what equipment is required to those companies.• Installed various complex printing machinery including their control/power supply wiring plus general power and light installations throughout the plant.• On-call 24/7 to support maintenance staff in the event of equipment failure causing delays to production.

• Servicing of diesel generators for container use and electrical modifications of same.• Maintain the inventory of shipping containers on the port and spare electrical equipment.• Monitoring of refrigerated containers stored at the terminal and on-board container ships.• Tracking and documenting clip-on refrigeration units and generators in transit throughout NZ.• Examining containers prior to shipping both off-hire and on-hire at the terminal.

• Duties included disconnecting, removing and re-installing all manner of printing equipment, installing building services and servicing of the same, this involved mains and control wiring, lighting, general power, etc.• Worked with a tradesman as I progressed from apprentice to electrician and then to chief electrician.• Responsible for a large spare parts store inventory which encompassed electrical/electronic parts used throughout the plant including ordering of said parts and maintaining budgets.• Managed all electrical services including the workshops and supervised one other electrician. • Designed and installed a main plant switchboard together with power factor correction equipment, designed/built a multiple air compressor controller and numerous motor control centres.• Designed and implemented building alterations, ergonomic lighting and ergonomic furniture to accommodate a technological change to electronic pagination for local newspapers that the company owned.• Installed a Wang main frame computer together with a dedicated room equipped with raised flooring and air conditioning including data cabling from the computer to the main administration areas.• Installed a new drive system on one of the main printing presses plus changed the relay control system to PLC control.• Designed and co-supervised the mechanical/electrical installation of a large multi-unit printing press and associated infrastructure together with building alterations.• Whilst serving apprenticeship were temporarily transferred to an electrical contractor where I worked at Shell, Dulux, ICI, Wellington Hospital, NZIG, Mobil and some residential installations.
