I lead the Institutional Research unit in fulfilling its core missions by leading the development, maintenance, and enhancement of information resources which effectively support and inform short and long-range strategic institutional decision-making, planning, and reporting efforts.I also coordinate and support University efforts in satisfying external reporting requirements, to include the UNC System Office, accrediting agencies, and external media. As a member of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE), I also participate in the broader responsibilities of that office.I oversee data extraction, compilation, coding and analysis from multiple information systems. Review and validate critical data and information for use in internal planning and submission to state and federal governments, and other agencies such as the US News and World Report. In collaboration with the Office of OneIT I manage the operation of the UNC System’s Student Data Mart and develop and maintain data sources and databases that support the University’s mission and strategic plan.

As the Associate Director of Institutional Research my duties include: Supervision of the office programming and support staff. Orchestrate the production of data and reports to assist in institutional decision making, planning, and evaluative processes within the institution. Ensure the development of accurate internal and external data files and reports. Coordinate the publication of institutional reports such as the Fact Book. Coordinate the reporting of institutional data used for internal management of the institution and external reporting to the system office. Represent the office on various university committees including the Electronic Content Management Committee, the Information Systems Committee, and the Banner Student Module Team.

Duties included the development or modification of SAS programs used in editing the required UNC General Administration files. Developed applications to extract data from the university’s student information system (SIS+) using the FOCUS programming language. Developed web based versions of the UNC General Administration surveys. Assisted the various units of the university in meeting their reporting requirements by development of reporting applications in FOCUS and SAS.

Coordinated the publication of the North Carolina Economic Forecast. Duties involved the collection of raw data, development and maintenance of data bases, programming, formulation of forecasts, and the preparation of written manuscripts. Assisted in the development of economic impact studies for businesses and government using both RIMS II and IMPLAN multipliers.
