The primary focus of the organization is to deliver component software tools that can be integrated into existing windows-based applications or implemented as stand-alone solutions using a web-centric model deployed on commodity hardware and utilizing Microsoft’s latest Windows ‘.net’ platform. The architecture includes Windows2003 servers, and web browser clients over an n-tiered model with MTS/COM+ as the transaction management layer. An extensible database has been layered over a SQL Server 2005 RDBMS. Thin clients are supported (Java2 based applications within a web-browser where XML documents are used to pass data). Server components are written as single-user stateless components/DLLs. The first product: MFM (Master Files Manager) implements HL7 v2.3 chapter 8 messages over multiple transports to provide integration of master file records across the enterprise. Tools are provided to map and transform the meta-record to match the organizations existing legacy application systems. A generalized business rules engine allows the user to define record validation logic and transaction routing rules. The system maintains a repository of meta-data needed to support various clinical and fiscal applications. Served in leadership positions in the HL7 standards committee serving as Chair(s) HL7 Medical Records Committee (14 yrs), Orders & Observations (2 yrs), and the Automated Data (Medical Device) committee (4 yrs); & in the clinical LOINC committee. Engineering executive for Clinical Information System products marketed to hospitals internationally by this leading manufacturer of monitoring devices. Directed the efforts of several engineering/software development groups: one, implementing Chartmaster, a point-of-care clinical information system targeted at the critical care setting; and one group implementing interfaces from Spacelabs products to other computers within the hospital and to other Intesys group products including Caremaster (Formerly JRS) and QuIC (a clinical EIS). The environment consisted of a distributed system utilizing an n-tiered client-server model, an RISC-based server interconnected with PC-based physiologic monitors and PC and X-Workstations via Ethernet. The products employed a GUI human interface in an open systems environment supporting keyboard, pointer, and touchscreen input. Length of stay patient information was stored in a relational database, which could be accessed via an ANSI SQL query language. Applications included: Acute-POC, CDR, ADT/registration, orders, notes, medication administration, laboratory, results, vital signs, fluid I/O, IVs, and graphical database reporting. Served as the company representative on medical computer standards committees including ANSI (HISB), ASTM, HL7, IEEE, & LOINC.
