Disaster Response and Recovery Officer (DRRO), Virginia Region VII/National Capital Region (NCR), has the responsibility of building stakeholder partnerships and integrating emergency management and homeland security programs while regularly providing hands-on, all-hazards emergency management support.Supports regional planning, response, safety, and field operations during incidents. Serves as an agency representative and a liaison for state and local partners and stakeholders. Ensure adequate support to localities while performing field-level agency disaster response and recovery activities. Coordinate the integration of related program activities consistent with the mission of Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) and the Commonwealth Emergency Management system. Interpret VDEM plans, policy and procedures with stakeholders. Coordinate, deliver and monitor activities in the development and maintenance of emergency management programs for localities. Provide a full range of planning, training, exercises, fiscal and operational guidance in the delivery of all phases of emergency management (prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery). Serve as Commonwealth of Virginia (COV) representative to several Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) subcommittees. Virginia Region VII/NCR supports 10 localities serving 2.7 million people in Northern, VA, and the COV representative to the NCR, working daily with our partners in Washington, DC, State of Maryland and the Federal government.
