Wayne Wilkins is a Director, Brand and Content at The Trustees of Reservations. He possess expertise in digital media, social media, creative direction, marketing, social media marketing and 27 more skills. He is proficient in French. In his two-and-a-half years at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School, Wayne has transformed our marketing department, and created a tremendous legacy for us to uphold. When Wayne took over our marketing department he was faced with many years of declining ticket sales and subscriptions for the Orchestra, poor overall visibility for the institution as a whole, a dysfunctional marketing staff, and a budget that had been cut to the bone over many years. He was also presented with extremely aggressive growth goals associated with our new strategic plan, and tasked to come up with a marketing plan that would fulfill them. As proof of his efforts, overall ticket sales for the Orchestra are up 39% since his arrival. Subscriptions to all series are up 21% and climbing. Paid Orchestra attendance is tracking slightly ahead of what was called for in the strategic plan. And, under his leadership, we brought back our dormant “Classical Gala” with a sellout concert featuring Yo-yo Ma! Wayne also oversaw several significant PR efforts, including the “Kids Making Music” Campaign for the Music School, which has received a very positive response, and a soon-to-be-completed, thirty-minute documentary on our organization produced by Full Channel Communications. Part of what has made stellar growth for the Orchestra possible is the reorganization of the Marketing Department that took place under Wayne, and his hiring of talented new individuals to complement those that remained on the team. He has also worked closely with outside consultants, many of whom he located and hired, to cost-effectively provide us with the depth and breadth of skills we need to promote our organization. Wayne has also helped to identify high impact, low cost strategies for marketing our Music School, which we are beginning to implement. While we are sorry to see Wayne go, we know that he has left us with the capacity to continue on this new trajectory. We will forever be grateful for the changes he helped enact.
