Conceptualized and engineered the chassis, mounting systems, body panels, and door assembly for a sophisticated Multi Camera Array Microscope (MCAM). Organized the CAD part naming & numbering system such that parts could easily be ordered, tracked, and revised. Generated part, assembly, and drawing templates such that part and assembly properties could be entered, and then imported, into the 2D drawings to generate the BoM and populate other fields in the drawing. Initiated quality practices for CAD reviews, part inspection, and assembly processes. Released two drawing packages for MCAM in less than 12 months. The first release was used to build four units and the second release was used to build ten units. The revisions made to the second release reduced the cost per unit by 18%. Released drawing packages that included detailed part drawings with all relevant manufacturing tolerances, materials, and finishes. The package also includes a complete set of assembly drawings that contain assembly instructions, exploded views, & BoM. Led design reviews that produced a list of various discrepancies that could then be addressed systematically.

Designed test fixtures for subsea military applications. Responsible for the concept, design, analysis, drawings, BoM, fabrication, assembly, and performance of all projects that I oversaw. Familiar with various standards for mechanical component specification. Parker’s ORD 5700 for static and dynamics seals, ASTM Y14.5-2009 for GD&T, Machinery’s Handbook for fits, Shigley’s ME Design for component analysis & Material selection. Generated Detailed 3D models, BoM, and drawings. Performed static stress analysis to validate design intent. Performed background research to help obtain a thorough understanding of the problem and to check for potential existing solutions. Generated concept sketches, and 3D models of potential solutions and then scoring matrices to guide the concept selection. Assisted manufacturing team with meeting an aggressive timeline for building oceanographic cables. Worked with a team of four to meet a tight deadline which resulted in the company meeting its obligation to the customer. Assisted in setting up and executing various oceanographic cable tests to obtain critical data that was then processed and presented so that program level decisions could be made with confidence. Pitched various original concepts to offering solutions for test requirements and program asset enhancements. Utilized the engineering process as a guide to provide viable solutions to challenges presented to me. Assisted the quality and shipping departments with miscellaneous tasking at times to ensure that timelines and quality standards were upheld.
