In November 2016 Canada's two leading marine industry associations, the Canadian Shipowners Association and the Chamber of Marine Commerce were merged. The new Chamber of Marine Commerce represents more than 130 marine industry stakeholders including, ship owners, shippers, ports, the St. Lawrence Seaway, marine terminals, elevators, logistics and service companies. A previous Chair of the CSA and at the time of the merger, Chair of the CMC, Wayne was elected first Chair of the merged organization.

I was a Director, former Vice-Chair and Chair of the Chamber of Marine Commerce (CMC) which represents approximately 130 companies that rely on marine transportation to deliver products and materials on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Waterway. The membership includes marine transportation service providers, shippers, ports, logistics companies, service and supply companies for the marien transportation industry. The CMC has a professional staff led by a President and a Board of Directors. It advocates the interests of the marine transportation industry to government and other stakeholders. The CMC was merged with the Canadian Shipowners Association in November 2016.

As Senior VP Commercial I was responsible for all commercial activities of Algoma's Canadian flag dry bulk and product tanker fleets, international flag self-unloaders and cement carriers. I was also responsible for the company's vessel sale and purchase activity and government relations. I was previously a Director of several ship owning companies and JV's and a board member of international shipping pools for self-unloaders, product tankers and cement carriers.

I was active on the CSA Board from 1995 to 2016 when the CSA was merged and became part of the Chamber of Marine Commerce (CMC). I served as Chair of the Board of Directors for 5 years ending in 2015. The CSA was an Ottawa based not-for-profit industry association that advocated the needs of Canadian flag ship owners to govenrment and other stakeholder groups. It has a professional staff led by a President and a Board of Directors.

St. Catharines

I joined Seaway Selfunloaders in 1995 as VP and GM responsible for all of the commercial activities of the Canadian self-unloading vessels owned by partners Algoma Central Corporation and Upper Lakes Shipping Limited. In 2000 this partnership was expanded to also include all fearless bulk carriers of both partners. In 2004 the partnership was further expanded to include all vessel operating activities as well as commercial activities. I was responsible for all commercial activities in each company.

I held a variety of senior management positions in the Canadian natural gas industry including Director of LDC (local distribution company) Marketing for Eastern Canada and Northeastern US. I was also a Director of the Ontario Natural Gas Association.
