Dr. Wayne F. Hallgren is a 1975 graduate of West Point, retired Air Force Colonel, and Founder of Practical Aeronautics, Inc. Wayne taught for ten years in the Air Force Academy’s Department of Aeronautics, including two years as Deputy Department Head. For five years, he was adjunct faculty to the Air Force Test Pilot School, where he twice won their “Outstanding Academic Instructor Award.” Wayne retired from the Air Force as the Associate Dean of the Air Force's Graduate School of Engineering and Management. He is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and co-author of an Introduction to Aircraft Flight Mechanics, winner of AIAA’s 2006 Summerfield Book Award. During OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH, Wayne deployed to Saudi Arabia as a Deputy Air Base Group Commander. He also served as a Group Air Officer Commanding at the USAF Academy. In 2019, Wayne was presented an Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Florida's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
