Building first-of-its-kind residential, pIace-based educational center in Utah's Wasatch Range. Increasing Utahn's understanding and appreciation of the unique nature and importance of Utah’s Wasatch range and surrounding areas.

United Kingdom

Social-impact technology company focused on designing, developing, and delivering affordable Internet of Things (IoT) sensor technology to smallholder farms - worldwide. Worked extensively with family-scale shrimp farms in Bangladesh to employ company's technology to improve shrimp pond water quality, increase farm production, and increase farmer income.Applied company's core IoT technology to furnishing Tasmanian/Australian farmers with water availability data to improve financial and environmental sustainability of their operations.

Kiganza, Tanzania

Co-founded the Gombe School of Environment & Society - adjacent to Gombe Stream National Park (Tanzania). Served as treasurer to US-based fundraising organization. Advised Tanzanian administrative and teaching teams on fundraising, strategic program development, personnel management, and facilities construction. Chosen by global governing board of directors to participate in cross-cultural negotiations to realign and refocus management, operations, and fundraising on mission. Enjoyed extensive travel in remote Tanzania.

Olivebridge, New York

Led residential environmental education and arts center focused on “Teaching, inspiring and building community through shared experiences in nature, history, and the arts.” Managed complete institutional turn-around (program, finances, culture, and facilities) during $7.5 million capital campaign to build new, sustainably-designed residential campus replete with classrooms, performance hall, dining and lodging for 200 people. Restructured staff of 31, led national search for leadership-level employees. Positioned organization to grow earned revenue from high-end conference and lodging space to subsidize high mission-fit but low revenue generating programs (i.e. underprivileged students and inner city schools)

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Designed, led, and executed fundraising strategy to secure $40 million to establish new programs and 77,000 square feet of facilities. Campaign enabled threefold operational growth in revenue over four years: $3 to $10 million significantly extending the programmatic reach of the Schools. Secured $2.1 million annually in philanthropic support during capital campaign. Implemented novel methods for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting high net worth individuals (> $1 million). Added 36 new donors (> $250,000 gift level) in two years. Led and managed board-level fund development committee. Served on management's leadership team.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Led major program area focused on “Engaging teachers, parents and organizational leaders in professional development that integrates educational excellence, innovation, leadership, and place.” Developed and designed pedagogically appropriate and content-rich programming with global reach e.g. Bhutan. Awarded $1 million grant from National Forum on Children & Nature to spearhead Schools’ national initiative: “Connecting Kids to the Nature of Wyoming: a Rural State Model.” Extended Schools’ mission through place-based, experiential education for pre- and in-service teachers (500+ annually).

Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Secured $1 million in start-up financing for commercial-scale shellfish production facility (hatchery). Bridged biological specifications with state-of-the-art engineering techniques to design, construct, and operate a technically complex facility, among the largest in the United States (approximately 1 acre on land and in sea). Formed strategic alliance with power generation plant in Massachusetts to utilize warm-water discharge to extend shellfish growing season in cold and otherwise poorly competitive New England waters.

Westport, Massachusetts

Branded the blue-eyed bay scallop as icon for harnessing community action to curb point/non-point pollution. Established 501(c)(3) nonprofit to lead a community effort: Bay Scallop Restoration Project. Developed and led watershed-centric educational efforts to engage K-12 students, teachers, schools, 5 towns spanning two states (MA and RI) to focus on the economic benefits of improving water quality in estuaries. Designed major in situ scientific research projects to increase wild bay scallop harvests. Recruited professional staff (4) including scallop hatchery expert from China, oversaw seven graduate students completing masters degrees on scientific inquiries into scallop population dynamics. Organized army of volunteers (100+) to produce profitable shellfish harvests.

Westport, Massachusetts

Created shellfish marketing division as part of existing vegetable farmers' marketing cooperative. Secured $75,000 in working capital to organize 22 commercial member fishermen. Managed processing, packaging, and marketing of six tons of trademarked “Heritage Coast” bay scallops. Proved principle of local economics: “new pick-­up truck phenomenon” (feel free to ask me about this). Improved livelihoods of local fishermen as means to establishing a constituency supportive of efforts to improve and maintain estuarine water quality.
