My team are responsible for managing and maintaining over 1,500 peering relationships, and over 500 GB of upstream connectivity across the global network. We manage and support in excess of 30,000 connected devices on a variety of operating systems and offering broad ranging applications across the estate.In addition, my team hold responsibility of provisioning key connectivity, load balancing and security components of new customer solutions.• Successfully migrated the networking of 2 Data Centre’s into larger up to date facilities, using VPLS to reduce any down time experienced by Customers. • Upgraded several large Data Centre’s, Distribution, Aggregation and Top of Rack switching to conform to the latest specs, thus providing a more reliable, resilient and scalable network. • I have assisted in deploying our SRX product release. This included creating documentation and training for members of several teams within the business.• I work closely with customers on critical events, migrations and designing new networking solutions.• Mentor to the junior members of the NOE team as well as the TOC (Technical Operations Centre) members.• I run our weekly NOE team meeting’s and assist with the team administration and project tasks. Working with sales and customers to design, price, implement and support new systems.My most satisfying achievement in Link-Connect was designing a Multi-Link WAN router based on Linux to provide increased bandwidth and resilience using a mixture of Broadband and Leased Lines. This included the scripts to monitor the links and adjust routing based on the available connections as well as custom radius profiles and VPDN groups on the LNS’s. I enjoyed the challenge of customizing Linux to run read only and strip out all but the necessary programs and libraries required for the device to run as a router. My final project at Link-Connect was to migrate all physical servers to Virtual Machines, some were rebuilt from scratch and others were migrated using P2V: In this role some of my key deliverables were:• Maintain the Broadband Access Network (5000 connections).• Maintain all Web, Email (pop/imap and smtp), Backup, Database (Mysql Clustering) Radius and Monitoring servers. These were all mirrored and/or Load Balanced and spread across 3 Data Centres.• Maintain all Peering and Transit connections.• Support Team Leadership and Mentoring.• Vmware testing deployment.• SAN Maintenance.• Migrate all physical servers including corp file and email services to Virtual machines.
