About Wayne H. Liang, Md Ms Famia
Dr. Wayne H. Liang is Director of Informatics Education and Outreach at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center, and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University. He is particularly interested in clinical informatics and clinical research informatics for pediatrics, hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant, as well as biomedical informatics education. Dr. Liang is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and Clinical Informatics (ABPM), and is a Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA).Dr. Liang attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, receiving a B.A. in Anthropology in 2005 and a M.D. in 2010. He then completed Pediatric Residency in 2013 and Chief Residency in Pediatrics in 2014 at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. In 2017, Dr. Liang completed Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center/Seattle Children’s Hospital/University of Washington, and a concurrent National Library of Medicine Post-Doctoral Fellowship and M.S. in Biomedical and Health Informatics at University of Washington, in Seattle, Washington. In 2017, he joined University of Alabama at Birmingham and Children's of Alabama as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Member of the Informatics Institute. In 2021 he joined Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University as a pediatric bone marrow transplant physician and physician informaticist. He is also Associate Editor for Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at HemOnc.org, and a Clinical Consultants for Oncology Research and Evaluation (ClinCORE) Program member at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Surveillance Research Program (SRP).
