In March 2019, I took on the role of Centre Director at the Electronics Photonics Innovation Centre (EPIC). My experience within the electronics industry, spanning sectors such as Medical, Military Aerospace, Defence, and Telecommunications, enabled me to actively connect with businesses that are suitable for occupying space within EPIC.Using my commercial experience, I successfully steered EPIC toward self-sufficiency ahead of schedule. I played a key role in developing and promoting EPIC as a credible and recognised brand within the photonics and microelectronics industry. This was achieved through delivering strategic digital marketing efforts and our presence at several international trade shows.Beyond ensuring EPIC's commercial success, my responsibilities included supporting the businesses located within the centre. This involved various activities such as encouraging business growth through collaborations, support conducting market research, and providing practical assistance, including help in writing applications for technology-focused awards.I managed a small but efficient team within EPIC to ensure the smooth operation of this multimillion-pound project. EPIC has laid the foundations for a promising future for the thriving technology cluster within Torbay. Plans are underway to develop expansion space at Torbay Technology Park over the next couple of years to support further business growth.Before my departure in March 2024, I successfully led EPIC to reach 100% occupancy, accommodating a total of 15 companies within the centre.

In October 2016, I joined Torbay Pharmaceuticals with the primary responsibility of formulating and executing the company's strategic Export Plan. My primary goals included identifying, appointing, and managing distribution partners while spearheading strategic digital marketing campaigns in global markets.In my role as Export Manager, I took charge of overseeing and enhancing international trade to optimise excess capacity. I represented the company at numerous international trade shows and conferences across Europe and the Middle East, contributing to the rapid expansion of Torbay Pharmaceuticals in various overseas markets. The establishment of a robust distribution network positions the company to reap the benefits of its growth.Torbay Pharmaceuticals operates under the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and specialises in manufacturing injectable pharmaceuticals. These products are distributed both in the UK and various export markets.

In my capacity as a Business Advisor, I provided valuable support to hundreds of small and SME businesses across Torbay, South Devon, and Somerset. I actively contributed to programs such as NEA (New Enterprise Allowance), Ready for Business, and the Superfast Business project.Leveraging my prior experience, I assisted SMEs in evaluating and planning their export opportunities, emphasising the optimisation of digital marketing through strategic content management. I conducted monthly clinics addressing various day-to-day business aspects and developed and delivered impactful Export and Digital Marketing workshops, benefiting numerous companies.To enhance my qualifications, I successfully completed SFEDI Level 5 in Business Support, obtaining full accreditation as a Business Advisor.In recognition of my efforts, I received the government-backed "Enterprising Britain Award" in November 2015 for my role in supporting businesses with export advice. The award ceremony took place in the House of Commons on November 2nd, 2015, acknowledging the success of the Ready for Export workshop and a successful Trade Mission to Germany.

Esam, based in Parma, Italy, specialises in manufacturing advanced air compressors for various industries like dental, food, printing, plastic, and medical fields.Starting my career at Esam, I handled administrative tasks such as Italian/English translation, quote generation, order input, customer service, and more. As I gained experience, I took on additional responsibilities like designing and managing the company website, entertaining visitors, and contributing to decision-making.Eventually, I became the Export Manager, overseeing tasks like developing new markets, maintaining customer service standards, negotiating contracts, and managing agents and distributors in Europe and the US. My time at Esam provided me with a well-rounded understanding of administration, account management, and various managerial skills.After 14 rewarding years, I left Esam to return to the UK with my family, maintaining strong connections with former colleagues and owners.
