My role included the management of armed personal security of the Prime minister both national and globally. Within this role I was also the National lead for the General Election 2015.This sensitive and challenging role requires expert assessment of threat, risk and vulnerability, working closely with intelligence agencies, often in fast time, to ensure effective problem solving, implementing detailed plans to mitigate known or emerging threats. I held responsibility for the planning and implementation of VIP personal security arrangements internationally, including G20 Summits in Russia, Japan and Australia as well as visits to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, UAE and Europe. I acted as the planner and coordinator of VIP protection for foreign heads of state and other VIPs visiting the UK. An example of this was the visit of the Prime Minister of India in 2016. A highlight of this posting was my organisation of the Prime Minister’s first visit to Israel and the West Bank. This was clearly a challenging and demanding role requiring the management of high level meetings with leaders of Israel and Palestine. I produced detailed security plans, working closely with both countries security forces, to ensure the Prime Minister was able to meet his aims safely. I managed critical incident, business continuity and compiled and delivered strategic assessments and briefings in support. I coordinated the UK VIP close protection at the World Economic Forum (Davos) in 2016. Managing multiple teams and deployments working closely with the British Embassy, private offices and hosts. Where required I was able to provide armed close protection.

Specialist Protection

Within this role it was my responsibility to plan and deliver a comprehensive security plan for a variety of events. These could be relatively small where i.e. The presence of a VIP increased the level of risk or large scale events such as the Royal Wedding, Queens Diamond Jubilee and concerts in Hyde Park where there was a large public attendance within a heightened security threat. Based on my assessment of the current physical security, intelligence, and threat it was my responsibility to recommend and plan the deployment of a range of security assets including search of persons and buildings, close protection, firearms response, accreditation, private contractors and physical security measures such as hostile vehicle mitigation and secure/ sterile cordons. Ensuring a cohesive plan with no gap in provision, setting out clear roles and responsibilities for all involved.I delivered this plan during the event, quality assuring security providers to make sure what was promised was delivered, problem solving, comprehensive briefing and liaison with all stakeholders. Fast time leadership decisions and also ensuring on hand to give expert advice to other senior decision makers as the event unfolds. Providing debriefing and learning following the event. In addition, I managed a significant change management programme considering working practices and implementing change across working practice and structures to reduce budgets.

Operations ManagerI managed a staff in excess of 300 to fulfil service requirements locally and in response to London wide requirements on a 24-hour basis. I planned and managed high risk operations, leading on the best response to public order requirements. I led on strategy to target organised criminal networks, chairing tasking committees, in liaison with local partners, to minimise risk from serious crime. Criminal Justice Manager I worked closely with a range of concerned organisations including the court system and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to ensure best practice delivery. I was accountable for the management of all resourcing for a large workforce identifying and delivering organisational needs, implementing necessary changes to meet operational demands; this included a review of staff levels and subsequent suitable deployment to serve the greatest need.Partnership ManagerWorking as the senior manager in partnership with local authority and community groups to ensure best delivery of services throughout a busy London Borough.
